You were the goodest good boy anyone could have asked for. You've come into my life right after Steff and I got married and could not have asked for a better dog. I asked Steff to "raise a puppy together," although you weren't a "puppy" you were the perfect fit. We took you in as a senior dog, and knew that our time would be limited, but you just kept pushing on, till this last year. I know it's been a struggle for you. I wish I could keep you around longer, but we agreed we cannot justify your quality of life the way it was. We love you and hope you'll always remember that. I'm sorry we couldn't do more with you, and I hope you forgive me where I lacked. I will always remember you, and despite my allergies, again, you were the goodest good boy I could have ever asked for. You were there for all my major milestones in adulthood after the Marine Corps, and you've handled every change amazingly. You were the definition of "man's best friend." You cannot be replaced, good boy. You were the one and only, Copper.
